I’ve always been a fan of social media – not just as a way to see what my friends are up to, but mainly as a tool through which one person can communicate to a vast audience about current events, especially controversial ones. It has never been easier to make your voice heard, and especially for journalists – who with one tweet can now send out stories to thousands of followers. Unfortunately, Twitter has also become a hasty tool for our president, who Wednesday morning sent out a set of explosive posts via his favorite social media platform. @cassieschirm I saw your post on the power of social media earlier, and I wholeheartedly agree. I love how political movements can start with hashtags and thunderous protests now begin with Facebook. But also, what (if any) are the limits of social media? And how should we react when our country’s leader freely abuses it?
