Every Thursday Reel Media Group hosts a social media takeover, during which one of our former students takes over our social media accounts to give us an exclusive inside look at their work on the field. The past month has been an exciting one for Reel Media – here’s a look back at what happened during each of our takeovers!
- Courtney Carter DeJesus – May 26
Courtney took over our Instagram and Snapchat (@reelmediagroup) on May 26 to give us a behind-the-scenes look at what it’s like to work as an Assignment Editor at News 12. After shooting her reel with us in March, Courtney landed a job with the evening news in the Bronx through the News 12 Reporter Academy. She now plays a key role in deciding what stories should be covered on-air! In an exciting moment on the job, Courtney unexpectedly had to handle getting breaking news on-air – and it’s all documented on her Instagram post below! Getting breaking news is an integral part of any broadcasting profession and is something every broadcaster has to deal with at some point in their careers.
Courtney is the definition of a Reel success – she shot her reel with us only a few months ago in March! Check it out below.
2. Stephanie Tsoflias-Siegel – June 1
This was a “reel” treat for us! Earlier this month we got a look at what it’s like to be Stephanie Tsoflias-Siegel, Emmy Award Winning Television Reporter and founder of Reel Media Group! Stephanie previously worked at WPIX, where she was a General Assignment Reporter and a Producer and Host of her own investigative crime-prevention segment… Now she’s a full-time momager!

Stephanie took over Reel Media’s Instagram and Snapchat on a particularly hectic day in her life, as she was on the road most of the day with baby and husband in tow!
Fortunately, though, Stephanie found some downtime to get some work done – when there’s a will there’s a way!
Thankfully, Stephanie doesn’t have to do it all on her own; with a reliable staff that includes Bram Weinstein (of #BramsBlog), Fernando Faraldo, and our many amazing coaches across the seven cities we operate in, among others, Stephanie is never alone in running Reel Media!
3. Abigael Jaymes – June 9
Abigael took over our Instagram, Twitter, and Snapchat to show us a day in the life of a KHQA Multimedia Journalist covering the Tri-State area of Illinois, Iowa, and Missouri. Abigael’s day got off to a busy start, as she was already in the edit bay writing and editing her package before noon! In the Instagram post below, Abigael gives us an inside look at the edit bay and the programs and softwares used by professional journalists.
By early afternoon, she was out on the field shooting her package!

Abigael was one of our very first Reel Media students, having shot her reel with us in 2013 when she traveled to New York City for the sole purpose of attending our signature demo reel bootcamp. See the demo reel that landed her the MMJ position at KHQA below!
4. Rebecca Cheng – June 16
Rebecca joined us on Instagram, Twitter, and Snapchat last week to take us behind the scenes of her job as a Dayside Anchor Producer for MSNBC, where she is in charge of monitoring breaking news and prepping news segments for the live on-air broadcast. Because the news is always changing, Rebecca has to stay on top of the rundown at all times while on the job – the on-air anchor relies on her to get accurate information for the live coverage of the event(s).
Before landing a job at MSNBC, Rebecca shot her reel with us in New York in 2014. Check it out below!
That was our last month in takeovers here at Reel Media! Remember to tune in to our social medias every Thursday to get an inside look at the world of broadcast journalism! And if you want to participate in one of our workshops, email us email@example.com
And that’s a wrap!
